Saying goodbye is always hard, but especially when it involves something you're proud of. After nine eventful years, we at BreakOut unfortunately have to say goodbye. Since we no longer have enough members to organize BreakOut, we have decided to dissolve the association. So there will be no more BreakOut in the previous form.
Every year we were happy to support other voluntary organizations like Jambo Bukoba e.V., Zeltschule e.V., EinDollarBrille e.V. and Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli e.V.. We hope that our initiative has inspired many people to be adventurous, enjoy life and help others.
We would like to thank all participants, supporters and friends of BreakOut. Thank you for all the wonderful years!
In 36 hours. In teams of two. Without money. As far as possible. For a good cause.
BreakOut is a charity travel competition for the adventurous. Once a year, the participants start in pairs from Munich, Berlin and also, since last year, Cologne. You have 36 hours to travel as far away as possible without spending money on transportation. The teams travel for a good cause all over Europe on a donkey, bike, by foot, in a car, by train or submarine. The concept follows the idea of a donation marathon: Each team collects donations from their team sponsors for each kilometer traveled. The organization behind BreakOut is a student group of 20 young people volunteering for the planning, organization and implementation of the BreakOut. Here you can find out how to BreakOut
In 2022 BreakOut supported Zeltschule e.V. as a partner organization. The NGO builds and manages tent schools for Syrian refugees in Lebanon and provides the families in the camps with food and medicine.
With this support and the education of the children, Zeltschule e.V. creates perspectives for the people in the camps and also does active peace work and terrorism prevention.
In 2020/21 BreakOut supported Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli e.V. The non-profit organisation is committed to ensuring that all people worldwide have access to clean drinking water.
